SubConsciousDaemon
The SubConsciousDaemon is a tool that automatically extract metadata from files into the Hyppocampus filesystem, so to enrich the list of additional informations to query and relate. It uses more ways to detect informations, such as the file utility or the libextractor shared library.
One of the main porpouse of the daemon is to extract also a semantic summary of the contents of the document analized, so to offer a practice index over to perform advanced searches: such as more popular software, as the Apple Spotlight or Beagle, but implented directly in the filesystem structure, so to be available to every applications and not to imply a computational overhead.
The SCD's logo is derived by M. C. Escher's "Eye", a drawing rappresenting an eye at the center of which there is a skull, symbol of Lobotomy.

- 2008-02-17 12:19:56 - SubConsciousDaemon 0.4.2 released
The 0.4.3 of SubConscious Daemon is available for downloads: it now includes a fundamental part of the notification subsystem implemented in Hyppocampus and LibHyppo 0.3rc2, and is more integrated with the whole system. The execution of this release is required to handle observers API at runtime in the current VFS abstraction.
- 2007-06-09 11:35:35 - SubConsciousDaemon 0.4.2 released
The 0.4.2 release of SubConsciousDaemon is out: here you find the new LibSubConscious, which actually only contains API for plugins but in the near future will include all functions to hook the daemon and be notified about changes on Hyppocampus filesystem, and a new plugin dedicated to the automatic extraction of keywords from textual documents.
- 2007-04-21 12:22:53 - SubConsciousDaemon 0.4.1 released
The first standalone release for SubConsciousDaemon has come: finally, all reactions to Hyppocampus filesystem DBUS events are handled in separated threads (which, in the near future, would also be migrated on remote machines), and the first implementation of the plugins API has been published. The first available plugin is available: it guess natural language and charset used in plain texts created in Hyppocampus
- 2007-03-20 12:26:05 - SubConsciousDaemon Development Page
Finally, also the SubConsciousDaemon has its own reference page for development, its own mailing list and its own tracker: all of that is available at https://gna.org/projects/scd/ . This means SCD will be released as independent package (not as part of Synapse package), and its development will procede in autonomous way. If you are interested on semantics and data mining, enjoy the mailing list ;-)
- 2007-01-23 13:05:38 - SubConsciousDaemon 0.4 released
