WARNING: this page is not updated to most recent evolution of the project, which will be implemented in 0.3.x series. Please come back in occasion of the next public release.

BrainTop is the desktop environment that box most of graphical applications involved in the Lobotomy Project. In origin, was forked from the XFCE desktop environment, from which inherit most of the look and feel.

It provides a framework for extension applets and a complex settings management system based over a SQLite DB (and not over XML files, how most of others similar systems), which will be substitute from a more generic mechanism to include in the earlier future directly into the Hyppocampus filesystem.

The BrainTop is the source of most innovations in user interface paradigm provided by the Lobotomy experimentations: its package include the OnMouseShell library, which permits a fusion between the harmful graphical interface and the powerful of the commandline, and its todo list contains the implementation of pie contextual menus.

Historically, BrainTop represents the primordial seed from which all others fundamental Lobotomy's plans had seen the light, and from his name (a mix between "brain" and "desktop") have been created the "neuronal" namespace into all others names are assigned.
